My First At-Home Session In YEARS!
When Jen and Curtis reached out to schedule their engagement session, I knew right away it was going to be a fun, creative session. Not only are they a super cool, down-to-earth couple, but they wanted to include a personal touch that truly reflected who they are. Instead of heading to a scenic overlook or iconic spot, they opted for an at-home engagement session—a cozy choice for a chilly January day. And let me tell you, it was absolutely perfect.
The day started with a warm welcome from their two adorable and incredibly well-behaved dogs. These pups weren’t just part of the session—they were part of the family, and their excitement added so much energy to the day. Jen and Curtis even rocked matching dog-themed sweatshirts, which made for some seriously cute and fun photos (and earned them bonus points for creativity!).
Since it was cold outside, Jen and Curtis decided to keep things cozy indoors by making pizza together. It was such a fun and genuine activity that really showcased their playful personalities. Of course, no good story is without a little chaos—cue the fire alarm going off! Instead of letting it derail the moment, they laughed it off, and it turned into a memory that I’m sure will stick with them (and me!) forever.
After the pizza-making adventures, we bundled up for a brisk walk outdoors. The winter air was crisp, but the scenery was beautiful, and Jen and Curtis were absolute troopers. Watching them walk hand in hand, with their pups trotting happily alongside them, was such a sweet moment. The quiet beauty of the day was the perfect counterbalance to the lively, laughter-filled moments we’d captured indoors.
This session was everything I love about engagement photography: genuine connection, authentic moments, and a couple’s unique story shining through. Jen and Curtis made the day feel effortless, and I’m so grateful to have been part of it. Their love for each other (and their dogs!) is so pure and infectious, and I can’t wait to celebrate with them again this September when they tie the knot in New Hampshire.
Jen and Curtis, thank you for inviting me into your home, your lives, and your story. September can’t come soon enough!
